Manicure Monday – I’m not impressed Jamberry!

I was am so unexcited to write this Manicure Monday post, so I’ll be brief. While at a Lulu’s event in NYC for Fashion Week I came across this booth for Jamberry and thought.. “oh new Minx…how exciting” I couldn’t wait to get home to use them. They had fun patterns, what I thought was an easy application, and the lazynista in me was excited that I could have designs without spending time to paint them. Le sigh.

Manicure Monday Im not impressed Jamberry!

This was the outcome. My first try was shot to hell…like the bottom was lifting up, I thought it was something I was doing wrong. So I went to my favorite nail salon and had my buddy Jimmy try and guess what same results. The tip is gathered because the paper is really thick and I think the heat just does not work well with it. I’m still wearing it because I really do love the polka dots and I want to see how they stay on.

I have more patterns, so I’m going to give them the ole college girl try! But I’m not optimistic!! Linking up with my Boo Lynn.

Manicure Monday Im not impressed Jamberry!

What do y’all think?

It’s too bad they bunch up that way, because that pattern is adorb! Your nails still look cute though :)

      You know I’m pissed! lol

I never bought them because they looked cheap. At this point if its not Sally Hansen or Kiss, I’ll pass.

I’m impressed that you even got them. I bought a couple via some coupon deal over 2 years ago. Never received. Never got a response from the company.

That sucks a**!! I would definitely reach out. I got “gifted” mine while at fashion week!

I’m with Mimi. I love Sally Hansen and Kiss so much, I haven’t even tried any others. I’m disappointed to see that they didn’t work out for you. And it’s a shame because it really is a nice pattern. The teal color is cute!

I’ve yet to have them do this on me. I use the “Baggie Method” to apply so I don’t get any bubbles or pinching. I think these still beat the Sally Hanson or Kiss ones at the store because those are dried nail polish and chip like nail polish and don’t last very long on my teacher/mommy hands. Jamberry’s are made with vinyl with heat activated adhesive. Jamberry lasts at least 2 weeks on my hands with very little wear. My only guess as to why it pinched up like this was filing… if you file side to side versus up and down, it causes irregular damage to the end of the wrap.

@WindyCityMama:disqus – Contact Jamberry’s Customer Support. They will work with you and your coupon deal. Their customer service really is the best!

I’ve never heard of the baggie method, I’ll have to try that.

Thriftanista in the City – it must have been another company other than Jamberry, they were not in business 2 years ago. Jamberry Nails are great, I am wondering if you got a defective sheet? I have been selling them for over a year and LOVE them!! Much better than Sally Hansen and Kiss. Ours do NOT dry out when opened, they last 1-2 weeks on nails and 4-6 weeks on toes, Made in the USA! We just redesigned our nail wraps, they are thinner and more adheshive… my only guess is you got a bad sheet which you can return and they will replace! It doesn’t happen often but once in a while a bad one slips in! Don’t give up on Jamberry, we have great nail wraps! I’d be happy to mail a free sample to someone interested in giving us a try, email: koelker@gmail.com

I’m an Independent Consultant with Jamberry Nails and live in the Chicago ‘burbs. I would be happy to help you troubleshoot your next application. Also, I agree with Jennifer, the “Baggie Method” works great if you have bubbles or creases like that (search YouTube for a video).

Hand nail art is just that a art..I can’t paint a straight line if I tryed..LOL..Thats why I LOVE jamberry..I want all those cute designs I see and I wanted to be able to have something fun for myself and daughter to do together ..I tell many nail techs Jamberry is not to take the place of your hand nail art. what they do is a talent..That I lack in..:) .Its to go with .. .I’m glad to see you gave them a shot and your going to try more Designs!.. Heat and pressure is the Key.. Best of Luck..Have a great day!! Love your designs! Love your nail art..you have a Gift for sure!!.. Definitely give it another try. They really are amazing! I would try either choosing a slightly smaller size or trimming the sides a bit. If they are too large they will definitely bunch up. Also when you apply them sometimes working them from side to side rather than up and down can make for a better application. Good luck. They really are an awesome answer to polish!

    • http://glassesandglitter.com/ Tori

That’s why I wanted them to work so bad! I’m going to try again.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kirsten.burke.50 Kirsten Burke

I agree try again and smooth them out really good then reheat them on the nail and smooth again. I apply mine one nail at a time because I tend to be on the oily side.

    • http://glassesandglitter.com/ Tori

Do you take them off the sheet when heating?

  • http://glassesandglitter.com/ Tori

Thanks for their email. I’ll reach out if it comes to that.

I love the look and this is why I have yet to try any strips/Minx nail sticker thingys…so many ladies are disappointed with their application and staying power. I’m interested to see you give them a second chance to see how you fair.
